'Julie & Julia' Movie

All the hype about the hit movie Julie & Julia was true. It's a winner! Meryl Streep as Julia Child is as close to perfect as they come. And while there will always be some that have differing opinions, I loved it and have plans to go back and see it again!

It was a long movie - 2 hours, 3 minutes - and I had to get up once during the movie. John says I didn't miss much, but there was so much packed into those 2 hours, that I'm sure I missed something along the way.

Julia Child's Recipes

Whatever people think about Julie Powell, her blogging efforts and book, Julie & Julia, have spurred on renewed interest in Julia Child's cookbooks, and more importantly her recipes. Everyone seems to be interested in her 1st book, Mastering the Art Of French Cooking, and especially her Beef Bourguignon now. Sales of her books have increased dramatically, and bloggers everywhere are writing about her life, her cookbooks and her recipes.

If you haven't seen the movie, Julie & Julia yet, go see it this weekend. Bring your hubby along. John thought it was gonna be another chick flick, but was pleasantly surprised. He loved it as much as I did! Pay special attention to all the recipes. Watch Meryl Streep play Julia Child with such accuracy that you won't be able to tell the actress from the person. Enjoy the film!

The New Wilton 2010 Yearbook goes to Mr Random Generator's lucky winner, Number 16. LuAnn has a blog called Back Porchervations. She's a KentuckyGal, Invisible Woman, Wife and Homeschooling Mother of 3, Patient Aide for Adults with MR/DD (mental retardation & developmental disabilities.) I love her comment. Makes me remember all my boo-boos too!

"Don't know if it is too late, but just saw about this from TheDailyBlonde on Twitter. I wanted to make my daughter's 6th birthday cake a doll cake, so I figured if I got a bundt pan, that would be good, then the doll could be put in a plastic bag up to her waist and plopped in the center of the cake. Well, the cake was only 1/2 as tall as it should have been, and the hole in the middle was wa-a-a-y to big, so dolly would've been showing way to much for a 6 year old. (Maybe because I tried making a few "substitutions" to enable DH's diabetic Mamaw to have a little piece of cake.) Well, I went out and got some pink sparkly sprinkles and some pre-made "Cars" (Lightning McQueen and Mater) sugar decorations (yeah, I know it's a strange combination) and let her help decorate. Everyone had a piece of cake and no one needed the Heimlich maneuver, so I guess it turned out not so bad after all."

Wilton's Cake Decorating Yearbook
I'm just so excited! I got another package in the mail from my newest friend Cindy, at Wilton Enterprises! It had TWO Wilton 2010 Yearbooks in it - one to keep and one to give away! Aren't they generous? I think they love me ;-)

I can't wait to dig into the colorful 248 page book and start using some of their ideas. That's what it is. It's a giant idea book, like the Sears and JC Penny Wish Book that we got before Christmas each year as a kid. OK, so I'm dating myself! When I'm done looking through the book, I'll give the other one away! Stay tuned!

Hi Donna!
I knew eventually you would find a subject I just can't live with out.
I love cupcakes so much that I even make miniature brownies. Everyone loves them that way. When I go to someone's house for dinner I am always asked to bring them.
I would like to branch out to some other interesting ones.
Not only do I have grandchildren but great-children and Grandnieces & nephews that I bake for. Liz
