Chocolate Chunk Fudge Brownies With Nutella Frosting
The idea for these brownies came out of a desperate craving one day for something sinfully rich and chocolaty. Sure, I had a chocolate bar stashed away just waiting for me to chomp down on. But I wanted a chewy snack, full of chocolate chunks and smeared with something ultra gooey that would ultimately drip down my chin and make a wicked mess!
I had a jar of Nutella in the cupboard that I was saving for anything special. It didn't matter what, I had no real plans for it, just that I knew it would be used for something that would make my world stop, if only for a few minutes. That's it! I'll make brownies with the Nutella! Creamy, chocolaty, gooey Nutella. But was exactly IS Nutella?
What does Nutella spread taste like?
According to the official Nutella website, "Nutella® (pronounced "new-tell-uh") is the combination of roasted hazelnuts, skim milk and cocoa create a deliciously unique creamy, chocolaty taste with a hint of that roasted nut flavor that will delight your taste buds as you enjoy each delicious mouthful."
I say it's like licking chocolate silk, not that I've ever done that! But, if I closed my eyes and licked a spoonful, I would be in heaven. Sort of like a chocolate orgasm, if there ever was such a thing!
Brownies, Brownies & More Brownies!
I used my trusty Gourmet Chocolate Fudge Brownie Recipe, the one I wrote for Suite101, and I changed it slightly to add loads of chocolate chunks, Nutella Frosting, chocolate chips and chopped walnuts on the top!
This recipe makes a big batch, so start off with a 9" X 13" pan. I used a glass Pyrex baking dish for this recipe, but you can also use your favorite Pampered Chef stoneware or even a Bakers' Secret non-stick pan. It makes about 18-24 good sized brownies! With that many brownies, I had to give some away, so the guys at the marina got to have a plate full and I brought the rest to work.
How To Make Nutella Frosted Brownies
Follow the recipe for Gourmet Chocolate Fudge Brownies and add 1 cup milk or dark semi sweet chocolate chips or chunks to the brownie batter. Place in the oven and bake as directed. Remove the brownies when a pick comes out clean and turn the oven off. Cool the brownies for 5-10 minutes, and spread 1/2 the jar of Nutella on top of the warm brownies. If the Nutella doesn't spread easy, return the pan to the oven for 2 minutes to rewarm and melt the Nutella just enough to spread. Sprinkle with mini chocolate chips and chopped walnuts while the Nutella is still warm and gooey. Cool completely before cutting into 18-24 squares. Serve with a glass of cold milk, you're gonna need it!

Brownies were my favorites. Nutella chocolate brownies are yummy.
Thanks for posting.

Nutella is heaven! I also have some in my cupboard waiting for a special occasion... I have to wait. If I open the jar for no reason I'll eat it all up within a couple of days...LOL. I was thinking about putting it on top of brownies. Yours look so good, maybe I will.

Hi, just wanted to clarify, when u say 4 1 ounce squares of chocolate, do u mean that it should come up to 4 ounces or should all 4 squares equal to 1 ounce in total?
Also, what sort of sugar did u use? was it caster or granulated sugar?
