EGGPLANT FACES ~ A Real Farmers' Market Doozie!

                               PICT0081
Goddard Park Farmers' Market

Look at this Eggplant I found at the local Farmers' Market last week! It had an appendage that I thought looked like a nose! Some others that I won't mention thought it looked like something else! Sheesh!

Willy The Eggplant

I was strolling through the farm stands and this one caught my eye. I couldn't stop staring at it! I KNEW I could make something out of it, and Eggplant Parmesan wasn't what I was thinking about! I kept thinking Mr. Potato Head, Mr. Potato Head! I gave him a name. I paid for Willy and took him home. He had no idea what his fate was at the time.

I had a few imported olives left from a Grilled Pizza fest, so I used those for the eyes and mouth. When I was done with the photo shoot, John promptly ate Willy's eyes off, then his mouth!

I kept him around for 5 days. I propped him up on the shelf and posed him in some silly positions.

I gave him some reading glasses to make him look intelligent, but it turns out that Willy can't read.

Put some sunglasses on him and laid him out in the sun. Willy already had a natural tan, but I thought, what the heck, he deserves a little relaxation!

Willy even went sailing, but alas, he was already blind by that time so he really couldn't appreciate it very much. He did enjoy the wind in his hair though.

I contemplated eating Willy, so I tricked him by putting him in a swimming pool (aka frying pan) and invited some colorful friends (mushrooms and red peppers) to hang around with him. Willy was NOT amused!

I never did do anything culinary with Willy. And then Willy's world started to crumble. He started to smell. Willy was rotting from the inside out. So I did what any good legal guardian would do. I kissed him threw him in the trash. What a horrible fate. Sorry Willy!

That is so funny. I didn't realize that we live in the same state until you started posting about the farmer's market. What a small world!

OMG, Willy just made my day :D !!! Thank you, thank you, thank you :)

Poor Willy... meeting such a terrible fate, after living such an adorable life.

Ah, well. This is the circle of life.

Thanks for the giggle.

What an imagination you have! I love Willy! (I love eggplants). I see that he has become a star on Food Gawker! YAY.

Willy got to be a supermodel for five days, in eggplant years that's a lifetime career-- Not a bad life I'd say!

I love Willy! Poor little guy. I couldn't have eaten him either!

Donna Donna Donna,

Thanks for the laugh lol ... Those photo's are too funny. You really need you own show. Have you ever though about trying to get on the "Next Food Network Star" or something like that. I think you would be perfect on TV. I know I would vote for you.

You are something special!!

I love it! You are too funny!
